Generative Art Installation

Curator: Tomasz Wendland

Pavilion 02. Transnational Pavilion of a common bio and syber future in collaboration with GAD. Fabbrica H3 di SerendDPT. Campo Sacosmo 624, 30133. Venezia.

One person becomes displaced every 2 seconds – less than the time it takes to read this sentence.

The installation consist in the creation of a polycarbonate portal mapped with data visualization generative art. The projected images represented by irregular cubes in space are being altered by data driven bouncing forces addressing “world population displacement”

The portal detects human proximity and changes the values of the algorithm to make the spectator aware of his own displacement and learned about the unprecedented 68.5 million people around the world who have been forced from home

This includes 40 million internally displaced people (IDPs), 25.4 million refugees and 3.1 million asylum-seekers. The conflict in the Syrian Arab Republic (Syria) and significant displacements in Burundi, Central African Republic, the DRC, Iraq, Myanmar, South Sudan, Sudan, Ukraine and Yemen have driven an increase to the levels observed today. Biennale Arte 2019: May You Live In Interesting Times
The 58th International Art Exhibition is curated by Ralph Rugoff and will be open to the public from 11 May to 24 Novembre 2019.
“May You Live In Interesting Times”, the title is a phrase of English invention that has long been mistakenly cited as an ancient Chinese curse that invokes periods of uncertainty, crisis and turmoil; “interesting times”, exactly as the ones we live in today.

Pavilion 02
Pavilion 02, whose first edition took place at Palazzo Dona in Campo San Polo in 2013, initiated the presence of a national pavilion represented by 25 artists from around the world at the Biennale di Venezia divided into national pavilions, expressing the nineteenth concept of the upcoming cultures of European countries and outside the world.
