The Reason for Her Image” proposes a dialogue between works by artists who represented Eva Perón and photographic documents that captured expressions, gestures, and tasks of a figure who transcended geographical and temporal boundaries.

The portraits of Eva transcended historical moments and endured despite everything, consolidating and prevailing over time. The photographs, part of the Audiovisual Documentation Center of INIHEP, many of them unpublished, are the connection with the past. Brück’s portrait of Eva Perón, created in 2012, is part of her “Pop-Art Argentina” collection, which captures iconic figures from Argentine history. Florencia, who left Argentina at 14 and lived around the world, returned in 2009 to reconnect with her roots. This journey led her to immerse herself in Argentine culture and history, inspiring her to create this series. The “Pop-Art Argentina” collection features 11 portraits of influential Argentine personalities, including Borges, Fangio, and Piazzolla. Each portrait involves extensive research and incorporates significant elements from the subject’s life. Florencia’s mixed media technique blends photography, graphic arts, and painting, allowing for unique variations in each piece. Her portrait of Evita Perón reflects her deep engagement with Argentine heritage, capturing the spirit and legacy of one of Argentina’s most iconic figures through vibrant and meaningful artistic expression.

“This journey to celebrate her highlights common aspects of her public life – her work and connection with children, women, and the elderly – tied to the struggle, courage, and transformative capacity that Eva so profoundly embodied,” says Cristina Álvarez Rodríguez, president of INIHEP – Evita Museum.

We look forward to seeing you from May till June 2024 at the Evita Museum located at Lafinur 2988, CABA.
