Three paintings made during a stay in Marrakesh, a tribute to the botanical diversity and aesthetic richness of the city.

“Naissance Rosée”, the first in the series, is a tender portrayal of the genesis of life — the image of dew-glistened flowers at dawn, its soft pink hues holding the freshness of a new day in Marrakesh. “Floraison Méditative”, set against white, is a contemplative piece: dreamlike floral forms suggesting a suspended breath in the natural cycle. “Éclat du Jour” closes the series with the dynamic energy of a flower in full bloom under the Moroccan sun.

Part of the Pliage series, this work emerges from a process in which painting and sculpture become inseparable. The canvas is first folded and shaped into a temporary sculptural form, after which Indian ink is poured across its surface and left to flow through the folds under the forces of gravity, absorption, and erosion.

Once unfolded, the fabric reveals the traces of this process: accumulations, fractures, and fluid trajectories formed beyond the artist’s direct control. In some works, the canvas is subsequently folded again into a new configuration, allowing the image to remain in a state of continual transformation.
