GAD Artist in Residence

From 14 February to 14 April 2019 Florencia S.M. Brück was artist in residence at GAD – Giudecca Art District in Venice, with One Contemporary Art. The residency closed with her solo show Tension and Interlude.

Giudecca Art District is a network of art professionals whose interest focuses on the island of Giudecca. It aims to create an art pole far from the clamour of mass tourism and close to a contemporary northern European industrial aesthetic, gathering the experience of its team and partners so that carefully selected projects can be present in Venice with a consistently high standard.

Building on the island’s significant contemporary art legacy and its proximity to the Biennale, the newly established district both creates and links contemporary art spaces on Giudecca. GAD is a place for critical reflection on the contemporary age: an incubator generating art projects in indoor and public spaces related to civic engagement.
