In Synthet1c Mem0r1es, Florencia S.M. Brück unveils a hypnotic AI-generated video work that meditates on memory, femininity, and the porous threshold between the human and the synthetic. Crafted entirely through generative AI, the animation unfolds as a fluid procession of visual memories—evocations of different women across time, culture, and emotional states. These fragments do not follow a linear logic but accumulate in sensation and form, culminating in the apparition of an augmented bio-woman who stands, regal and enigmatic, before a backdrop of pyramids.

Brück’s choice to end with the pyramids is no accident. Symbols of ancient memory, mysticism, and encoded knowledge, the pyramids evoke the endurance of civilization and the human drive to transcend mortality. Here, they stand as silent witnesses to a new kind of archive—not carved in stone, but synthesized in code. Their presence places the AI-generated body in dialogue with ancestral technologies of permanence, suggesting that even our most advanced digital tools are part of a much older lineage of memory-making.

Aesthetically, Synthetic Memories moves between classical refinement and futuristic ornamentation. The central figure is adorned with intricate metallic elements that suggest both ceremonial adornment and post-human enhancement. The animation’s fluid motion—ethereal yet mechanical—is accompanied by a reinterpreted music composition based on “Uneasy’s In Next Life”, itself remixed using AI to follow the emotional arc of the short.

Brück’s work invites us to consider how memory is no longer strictly biological nor strictly personal. In this shared visual hallucination, memory is a collective, evolving construct—at once intimate and engineered. Synthetic Memories is a meditation on what remains, what is reimagined, and what it means to carry memory forward in an age of artificial sentience.
