Gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha — Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone altogether beyond, enlightenment, svaha.
This photographic series explores the threshold between selfhood and dissolution, presence and absence. Nude, wrapped in transparent plastic, the body becomes both visible and veiled — suspended between exposure and erasure. The plastic membrane becomes a metaphorical chrysalis, a second skin that hints at suffocation and rebirth.
Inspired by transcendental meditation (TM), this work investigates altered psycho-physiological states as liminal territories. Just as the Third Law of Thermodynamics implies the slowing of molecular motion toward absolute zero, TM evokes a subtle stillness — a descent into the ground state of consciousness. In this state, identity becomes fluid, the boundaries between inner and outer reality blur, and the body itself becomes an object of transformation.
By positioning myself within these transparent enclosures, I confront the fragile architecture of the self. These images are meditations on the feminine, the synthetic, the sacred, and the disembodied — a visual koan that asks: what remains when we surrender all forms?
