AREA – Flow through the colors {match with the star}

Rubinetterie Stella, alongside artists of international renown, explores the magic of water through the installation “Flow through the colors {match with the star}” during the Milan Design Week 2024. Conceived by The Meraviglia agency and designed by Elena Pelosi, this installation highlights the unique and precious nature of every water droplet, protected by the SIDE collection faucets, designed by Meneghello Paolelli. Through colors, scents, sounds, and lighting effects, this installation unfolds across five emotional spaces, each representing the remarkable color variations that water assumes in five of the world’s most unique and remote locations. Each “island” within the installation emerges from the creativity and participation of world-famous artists who contribute to the customization of the fountains.

The exhibit island featuring the creativity and signature of Missoni is bathed in a deep terracotta red, enveloping viewers in an unprecedented atmosphere. “The Red” transports viewers on an exotic journey to Tanzania with its intense ruby red hue reminiscent of Lake Natron.

“The Pink,” with its striking pink color, draws inspiration from Lake Hiller in Australia, offering a dreamlike and fantastical view of nature. The fleeting flow of the pink water captures the aesthetic essence of The Meraviglia and the sculptural skills of Filippo Salerni.

“The Blue,” created in collaboration with artist Nicolas Denino, fosters an environment for spiritual search and connection with nature, inspired by the deep blue chromaticity of Belize’s Blue Hole.

Florencia S.M. Brück, an Italo-Argentinian artist and programmer, is part of the Stella project, exploring the connections between the digital, virtual, and natural worlds. “The Black,” a black basin that incorporates all colors, echoes Kelimutu Lake in Indonesia. “For my contribution, “The Black,” the installation will feature black water where my folded black and white canvases, touched with hints of gold, float. These canvases, resembling ethereal rocks, create an otherworldly perception that blends the natural and spiritual worlds. The use of black, a color that encapsulates all colors, ties back to Kelimutu’s transformative waters and highlights deep, introspective themes of origin and destiny. The addition of gold, a material believed to be celestial in origin, introduces notions of the mystical and eternal, complementing the installation’s exploration of water’s magical properties.”

Lake Rotorua in New Zealand, with its intense yellow color, is represented by “The Yellow” island. The works of Elena Pelosi enrich this golden space, which, through the clever use of recycled materials, tells stories of resilience, symbiosis, and regeneration.

Flow through the colors {match with the star}” reflects Rubinetterie Stella’s strong and ongoing commitment to environmental issues. The project aims to become a tool for spreading sustainability culture, with the CO2 load generated by the installation being monitored by GARC SpA SB, a B Corp company, and offset by joining the Zegna Forest project, which will involve planting hornbeams, beeches, and maples in the mountainous areas of Oasi Zegna.

Partners of the initiative include Atmosphera, Dream Factory, House of Ninja, Urban Production, Oasi Zegna, and GARC SpA SB.
